R. Van Ballantyne
About Our Founder

Van holds a BS in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics and his MBA from Southern NH University. He is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent (EA).

Van has spent the last nineteen years as founder and CEO of Counting House Associates. Prior to that, he spent 20 years in private industry as accounting manager, controller, CFO and vice president finance and administration for various businesses in the greater Seacoast area.

Van is always busy! When not working he enjoys walking the beach with his wife and golden retriever Koda, spending time at the lake with family and friends and will travel almost anywhere.

Arlene Abdallah

Bookkeeping Specialist

Arlene earned two degrees: Accounting and Elementary ED. The second degree is helpful when dealing with some of her colleagues! Many years of bookkeeping and accounting experience in her husband’s business, she spends her spare time reading, hiking, and driving her motorcycle from Portland Oregon to Portland ME!

Christopher Anthony

Accounts Payable

Chris joined us in a new position for Counting House. He has worked in accounting for the last 15 years in a variety of industries ranging from insurance to medical and hospitality fields.

He received his AAS in Management and resides in Kittery with his wife. In his off time he does volunteer work that helps people in the community through study of the bible.

Chris is a fan of the Lakers and also the Yankees… we forgive him for his choice of the baseball team

Barbara Ballantyne

Admin

Barbara was lured out of retirement by a desire to find a place where she can be helpful and be around co-workers. She is a people person! Barbara’s professional career was spent in the elementary classroom where she made a difference in children’s lives. She retired with a BS in Education and three (!) masters degrees. She has two grown daughters nearby, three grandchildren, a dog and cat. She leads a full life and enjoys traveling, reading and gardening.

A Southern NH University graduate in Accounting, Jacob has worked as a staff accountant with experience in tax return preparation, audit, payroll and bookkeeping. His hobbies include photography, sports, and martial arts. Jacob is a Yankee’s fan but we forgive him for that.

Mathias Lakeman

Client Manager

Mathias graduated with a BS in Accounting from SNHU (summa cum laude, no less!) and has worked in various industries before joining Counting House. He loves to cook and has tried, unsuccessfully, to teach cats to speak… we love his sense of humor and rely often on his technical (nerdy?) skills.

Rekha Nomula

Bookkeeping Specialist

We are pleased to have Rekha join our team!

She was raised in India where she worked as an accountant for several years, and after relocating to America she worked as a tax preparer and also was a teller at Citizens Bank (where she was recognized as Best Teller!).

Rekha holds a Bachelor of Commerce in India and lives with her husband and son in Dover NH. Her spare time is spent reading, time with family and watching Indian movies.

Matthew Salerno

Payroll Manager

Matt graduated from Stonehill College with a BS degree in Accounting and has worked in the payroll field for a number of years. He’s passionate about payroll! Matt lives with his girlfriend and dog in Exeter NH and admits to loving trashy reality TV along with a good poker game.

Lynne Stollstorff

Tax Prep

As an Enrolled Agent and Master Tax Advisor, Lynne brings to Counting House a wealth of experience in the field of taxation and business management.

She earned a BBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Quebec and has an Associate Degree in Accounting from McIntosh College. Her experience includes not only tax preparation but managing a team of 30 professionals at a major retail chain. Originally from Canada Lynne lives in Newfields with her husband and sons.

Robin Sullivan

Bookkeeping Specialist

Robin comes to CHA with a wealth of finance, accounting & bookkeeping experience for both Profit and Non-Profit organizations. Her very dry sense of humor keeps us grounded and for that we’re thankful! When not in the office she enjoys travel, the beach, a nice meal and glass of wine.
